Export growth for Cheetah
Isle of Wight UK catamaran builder, Cheetah Marine has seen a noticeable increase in exports during the past year post Seawork 2013.
Sean Strevens, designer and founder of Cheetah Marine, said: “Without doubt, Cheetah Marine has benefited from the growing overseas interest which the show attracts. Not just in terms of visitor numbers but the quality of the attendees. In just the past year we have delivered Cheetah Catamarans to Canada, Ukraine, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, France and Ireland.”
This year Cheetah Marine will be exhibiting two catamarans on the quayside at Seawork. Following the interest Cheetah’s demonstrations with the Optimus 360 Sidesteer System last year at Seawork, an order was placed for a 9.2m with complete Sea Star package including joystick. The system will again be demonstrated aboard a 9.2m which will enter the Round Britain Challenge in July.
Also on display will be Cheetah Marine’s new demonstrator 9.95m which can be used for commercial fishing and charter.
True to Cheetah Marine’s core values, each catamaran is a fully bespoke build project and a result of customer input throughout the build process. Continuous interaction ensures each specification will perfectly compliment the future tasks required of the vessel as well as fulfilling broader roles where good sea-handling and stability are paramount.
Cheetah has a healthy order book, current builds include X-Cat, a charter and the Surf Safari 11m Cheetah destined for the west coast of France. A further trailerable 7.2m will be delivered to Noirmoutier in late spring.
