Hamilton Jet unveils new generation waterjet

Hamilton Jet used Seawork to unveil its next generation waterjet which it will use to strengthen its market presence in the hybrid, electric and digital markets.

The AVX is an intuitive 3-axis controller which allows for low speed manoeuvring and docking

The HTX30 is the first in a new family of waterjets, that will ultimately will replace 18 existing jets in the range. These new waterjets have a 7% increase in high speed efficiency over previous models, meaning higher vessel speeds or reduced fuel burn and increased range.

“The HTX30 will improve efficiency and performance across the entire range,” Ben Read, general manager, Hamilton Jet, told MJ.

“At the same time we’ll be offering extended service benefits to our customers and helping them to future proof their operations.”

Automation drive

The HTX30 has undergone years of research, hydrodynamic design and testing delivering much stronger performance up to 570kW for use in patrol and commercial workboats up to 18m in overall length.

At the same time as the unveiling of the waterjet, Mr Read unveiled Hamilton Jet’s new AVX advanced control suite, an intuitive 3-axis controller which allows for low speed manoeuvring and docking compatible with all Hamilton waterjets.

The controller also allows for seamless integration of automation features through the JETanchor system which provides conventional station keeping and Hamilton Jet’s Virtual Anchor mode. This allows the vessel to be held to a fixed point and use weather-vaning using wind and waves to achieve stability and fuel efficiencies.

The AVX system has been successfully tested in a number of search and rescue boats in Singapore and the UK for the past two years.
