Hydromaster steerable propulsion units at work
Hydromaster, the pioneers of steerable propulsion, are proud to carry the legacy of this revolutionary concept. Originating during the 1930s, steerable thrusters were first operated on a grand scale in the Pacific, also propelling the “Rhino ferries” to reach Normandy during D-Day.
Over the years Hydromaster has further advanced its products and this has been applied on numerous applications worldwide. Today, Hydromaster steerable thrusters can be found on hundreds of ferries, split barges, works boat, floating bridges and river cruise vessels on every continent.
With increasing demands to accommodate worldwide environmental concerns, Hydromaster has already taken steps in achieving these standards by adapting its technology to meet both customers’ needs and the environmental regulations.
Their latest recognition being the two new 60m Hybrid Ferries for ‘Transport for London’, that will be operated on the River Thames later this year. The ferries are diesel-electric power with part-power coming from batteries and will be propelled by a set of four 300 kW Electric driven Hydromaster Azimuth thrusters.
With office and production facilities in the Netherlands and the UK, Hydromaster is attending the Seawork 2018 again this year to display their presence and serve their customers in the home market.
