Industry leaders combine to meet all demands

Seawork International will see the unveiling of multiple new designs for British boatbuilders, Alicat Workboats Ltd, South Boats IOW Ltd and Goodchild Marine Services Ltd.

Alicat Workboats and South Boats IOW will unveil multiple new designs, vessel deliveries and news of further orders at Seawork International

One of these new designs is the new SB Lynx range. These all new GRP catamarans were jointly designed by Goodchild Marine Services Ltd. of Burgh Castle, Norfolk, and Alicat Marine Designs Ltd. of Romsey, Hampshire, using a well-proven South Boats IOW hull form enhanced following vessel test tank data to make significant improvements and refinements. Available in 13m to 16m hull forms, these multi-purpose vessels suit fixed pitch propeller and water jet propulsion systems.

The first order has already been secured, with Goodchild Marine Services Ltd now building the vessel for the Northumberland Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority, with several other companies in discussions about further orders.

The new South Boats IOW Ltd, South Catamaran 26m is the first hull form from the company to capitalise from a wealth of hull form development and tank testing. The craft was designed by Alicat Marine Design and kitset design and supply by Global Marine Design. The combination of these specialists has resulted in a next generation craft.

The vessel has been optimised for high speed passage, turbine access and loitering in harsher conditions meaning it has the capability to be utilised in extreme conditions in areas such as, but not exclusively, the German North Sea and UK Round 3 Developments. In addition, the company has also developed a new 22m vessel using this partnership.

Featuring finer initial entry and significantly higher wet deck clearance, the 26m is expected to remain operational at 2.5m Hs. It’s available in twin Waterjet or quad engine CPP configurations.

The first two vessels are currently in build for Seacat Services Ltd.

The all new Alicat 27m has been designed by Global Marine Design Pty Ltd of Australia and has been designed from the ground up to be capable to work in some of the harshest conditions including Round 3 wind farm sites. The vessel will be available in 12px or 24px configurations with a modular superstructure that facilitates easy conversion for survey roles. Of note is the very high cargo payloads offered by this vessel, potentially up to 60 tonnes. Initially offered with a quad main engine and CPP configuration, pricing will be available at this year’s Seawork International.
