Italdraghe have over 50 years experience in the dredging sector. The Italdraghe shipyard on the Adriatic Sea has established facilities for manufacturing standard and made to measure dredging solutions to meet with specific customer requirements. Most dredger manufacturers have been fortunate so far in having escaped the current economic downturn virtually unscathed and Italdraghe is no exception. With its all-Italian designed and manufactured dredgers, it can continue to boast an impressively full order book.

After focusing successfully for many decades on Asian, Middle Eastern and North African markets, Italdraghe is now stepping up its European operations to meet the ongoing demand for made to measure dredgers in key markets closer to home.

Italdraghe has recently announced the appointment of its new, highly experienced, UK sales agent Andrew Scott, who the company met at Seawork 2007. Andy will be managing the entire range of Italdraghe cutter section and backflow dredgers, self-propelled hopper dredgers, pontoons, dredging pumps, backflow pipelines and riddling plants.

One of the keys of the company’s longstanding success is its ability to design and manufacture dredgers to specific customer requirements. Whereas many dredger builders offer only standard dredgers straight off the production line, Italdraghe devotes a great deal of time and resources to designing dredgers that meet the exact requirements of particular dredging conditions, a specific dredging job or even the personal working preferences of dredger operators. No two Italdraghe dredgers are ever alike.

At present, the North African market continues to be particularly buoyant and within the coming months Italdraghe will be delivering newly built dredgers to Algeria, Nigeria and Angola.
