Mantsbrite expands offering for Seawork
UK-based Mantsbrite, distributor of a wide range of marine electronic and navigation equipment manufacturers, has added the Koden ESR-S1BB 360° scanning sonar to its portfolio.
The new Koden ESR-S1BB, which the company will be showcasing at Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork International in June, is said to be the first sonar designed for installation on small fishing vessels.
Its sonar transducer is designed to be installed on a pole which goes over the side of the boat – both minimising installation costs and rendering it suitable for even the smallest vessel.
David Ash said: “We have received a great response from both fishermen and dealers; for the first time, a small boat of, say, 7m or 8m can have a full 360° scanning sonar which is easy to install, easy to operate and cost effective.”
The Koden ESR-S1BB comprises the sonar transducer, the sonar processor (which has a VGA output for connection to a monitor), keyboard and a hand held remote control. With a power output of 800 watts and a frequency of 220 kHz, it has a maximum range of 300m.
It has an adjustable tilt angle allowing the user to look directly ahead or to “tilt” the sonar beam down in 1 degree increments to look directly beneath the vessel. The area, or sector, of scan is also adjustable. There is also a “target lock” feature where the sonar beam tracks the echo automatically. It can also act as a conventional echo sounder if required.
The company has been appointed as the UK and Ireland distributor for many of the world’s leading marine electronic equipment manufacturers and, through its 175-strong dealer network, now supplies leading brands, including Koden, David Clark, Scan Antenna A/S and LCJ Capteurs, to both the commercial and leisure sectors of the marine industry.
This year also sees Mantsbrite mark its 50th anniversary, which it says it will be celebrating at Seawork.
