Marine engineering services
Liverpool UK based ASB Engineering Limited is a new marine engineering company which serves cover the north west coast of England from Pwllheli, Holyhead, Liverpool, Barrow-in-Furness and up to Whitehaven.
The strategy behind being based at the Liverpool Docks is of course so that the firm is well placed to serve some of the largest offshore windfarm companies, including Fred Olsen Windcarrier.
But the firm is not just limited to work in that sector, it undertakes any type of commercial vessel work including work to survey and crew transfer vessels.
ASB has recently become an authorised dealer for Moteurs Baudouin and Perkins engines and generators. But the engineers work with many different models of engines of any size including Volvo Penta, Scania, MAN, MTU, Deutz, Caterpillar, Cummins, Beta Marine, Doosan, Iveco, Kohler Marine and Mitsubishi.
The firm also carries out all types of welding and fabrication on site, as well as in its workshops at Liverpool and Barrow-in-Furness.
Previous work for Fred Olsen’s Windcarrier’s Bayard 1 and Bayard 4 vessels included an intercooler change on both MAN engines and replacement of coupling shafts.
Other work has been for North Sea Logistics on its Wind Transfer and Discovery vessels where ASB replaced a faulty sea water pump on Wind Transfer and repaired Discovery’s hydraulic crane.
The firm has also completed work on Mainprize Offshore’s Dalby Derwent, where it carried out a 3000 hour service on a pair of Scania engines.
