McTay sets out its stall
Seawork exhibitor McTay Marine Services has a world-renowned reputation in the design, build and delivery of specialised ships and workboats since it was established in 1974, as a subsidiary of McTay Engineering Ltd.
On stand B205, at Seawork, the company will display vessels currently under construction and offered at a fixed price determined by the specification. Repair services, details of voyage repairs and full details of all other services offered by its Group Companies will also be highlighted.
On the banks of the River Mersey, the company has built some 119 vessels, many of complex and innovative designs. The shipyard has a fully equipped build hall (80 metres in length by 25 metres in height with 10.4 metre high doors opening directly onto the slipway). The engineering shop is directly adjacent.
McTays is now in its 40th year of delivering specialist ship building services to the marine industry. Refurbishments to the shipyard have now been completed with the largest investment being an upgraded slip, which can now accommodate vessels up to 2000 tonnes.
The intention is to establish a Renewable Energy Repair Hub, as the yard’s geographical position aligns well with a large number of offshore wind farms and Tidal Energy Sites. The company is planning to build on the success of having recently slipped the vessel Wind Transporter for A2 SEA, which is operating in the Irish Sea.
McTays is involved in a number of new build projects, design and build and build only. Specialist vessels including barges, tugs, crew transfer vessels and patrol vessels building in both steel and aluminium.
Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork Exhibition is taking place at ABP’s Port of Southampton from 10 to 12 June 2014.
