New Dutch boat builder
The Netherlands has a new workboat builder – DutchWorkBoats, and it will be bringing its first vessel to Seawork 2013.
The company was founded to design and build workboats up to 15m, specialising in tailor made vessels for specific deployments.
Bruno Tideman, DutchWorkboats, said to Maritime Journal: “We just started up six months ago and we will be exhibiting our first vessel at Seawork next year – the Fast Tender 8.5m, which is a versatile general purpose vessel. We think Seawork is an excellent venue to show off our capabilities.”
DutchWorkboats says it has extensive experience in building in aluminium, but are looking for new, innovative ways of bringing versatile workboats to the market all the time.
To this end, its latest build of workboats are made from HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene). The advantages of HDPE it says are high shock absorption, high buoyancy, strong yet flexible, zero corrosion and limited accumulation. The first boats are small jonboats of around five metres with outboards. Larger designs with inboard engines will be developed in the near future.
One other project DutchWorkboats has underway is a fast aluminium survey vessel of 7.50m with three person cabin and inboard diesel for an international dredging company. The vessel will have surveying and planing speeds of up to 25 km/h and a trailerable maximum speed of 40 km/h.
