New Promarine antennas at Seawork

One of the new antennas, the proD4, is a multi-frequency antenna that covers the most entertainment communication systems in one antenna including FM radio, TV, 2G/3G/4G, WiFi and GPS.

Promarine says it can be used simultaneously without interference and is easy to install and safe to use because of its structure with no external whips.

Also on show will be the company’s new range of proISO galvanic isolator products. The proISO family of galvanical isolators consists of various radio and frequency specific galvanical isolators. They remove the need to use isolated switched-mode power supplies and plastic antenna mount isolators, therefore pre-empting interference.

Jani Järvinen, CEO, Promarine, told Maritime Journal: “The proISO family has already caused significant cost savings in communication system operating and lifetime maintenance costs for ship operators and owners. For the ship operators, reduced interference and an increase in performance of the communication system, means they can focus better on their critical tasks and daily routines – they are able to sail farther away from the shore without losing connections.”

proISO technology enables trouble free EMP and EMC protection of coaxial cable inlets in the vessel’s hull. If the cable’s screen is grounded for potential equalisation, EMC shielding or EMP protection, an unwanted DC current path might occur between the vessel’s metallic body and radio communications equipment. By installing a proISO device just after the cable inlet, the company says a complete ground loop protection is achieved.

Promarine designs, develops and manufactures a range of interference-free communication products that are developed specifically for workboat and patrol boat users.

In addition to hardware deliveries, the company offers communication system engineering services for shipyards.

The company has entered this new proD4 antenna into the Seawork Innovations Showcase, which allows visitors and exhibitors to see the latest projects, products and vessels that ‘push the envelope’ of ideas and provide new solutions.

Promarine also told MJ it’s hoping to find system integrator, service and installation partners in the UK at Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork exhibition, taking place at ABP’s Port of Southampton from 10 to 12 June 2014.

“We have visited Seawork as visitor twice before and have noticed that the target group of Seawork is exactly what we are aiming for. Most of the vessels that are on berth at Seawork are made of aluminium or steel and they seem to have a vast range of communication systems installed which means they should get instant advantage by using our products,” added Mr Järvinen.
