New St. Kitts vessel inspection scheme

An occasional inspection will be carried out 5-7 months after the last annual survey carried out by the recognised organisation for the ship. Inspections will cover all applicable regulations to the vessel. ISM-related deficiencies may require an additional Safety Management Certificate audit by the RO. For serious deficiencies, an additional Document of Compliance audit may be required.

Ship Recycling Regulations

When an application is made for a special purpose registration, the Registry said to ensure compliance with the EU Ship Recycling Regulations, registered ships performing a final voyage to a demolition yard and where the ship being registered is currently registered with a European Union flag state; or the former and where the ship being registered is sold while it is within EU waters and delivery will take place within EU waters, will not be permitted to be taken outside of EU waters and only accepted if recycled at an approved EU shipyard.

Registration of new vessels will require confirmation of acceptance from an approved EU shipyard accepting the vessel to be brought into the shipyard for recycling and an inventory of hazardous materials.

A new scheme aimed at reducing the average age of the St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship Registry fleet will also see ship owners receive fee reductions subject to the vessels age at the time of registration or at the time of annual payments are due.
