New suspension pedestal seat
SHOXS has showcased its X Series Shock mitigating pedestals at Seawork 2018 where its X4 model had its European launch.
Developed over the last 18 months, the X Series Shock Mitigating Pedestals come in 4.4inch and 8inch suspension travel formats and are designed to work with any seat, including SHOXS own brand bucket seating.
Speaking about the X4, Dan Charboneau, director of engineering at SHOXS, said: “Fundamentally it’s a suspension pedestal seat. It has four and a half inches of suspension travel in the centre. That allows a decent amount of drop mitigation for a recreational application.”
He explained that the bottom mounting part is fitted onto the model in such a way that it can be moved and down, which allowed SHOXS to sink the structure into a box.
Adjustable mounting flange gives the flexibility of mounting the seat direct to the deck or through a deck/seat box to set the seat at a desired location for individual craft.
SHOXS has traditionally produced exclusively military products so the challenge when designing and producing the X series was to put its military expertise into a “more recreational type application,” said Mr Charboneau.
Andrew Hughes, UK sales manager, said the company hassome new US navy projects starting now – some of which are close to 15-year contacts.
