Piranha Ribs at Seawork
Piranha RIB’s commercial division will exhibit at Seawork 2013 with one of two RIBs it currently has in production. The company says that they are the driest, fastest and best handling RIBs available on the market.
The first RIB in production is a 8.5m Cabin RIB rigged with twin Yamaha 150hp outboards and was put into build late in 2012 for Calypso Marine – which will be using it as a rescue/service RIB on the River Forth.
This commercially built RIB has been a bespoke build to accommodate the requirements of its owner. Stewart Taylor has kindly offered the RIB as a demonstrator at the exhibition and, thanks to Raymarine, the craft will also be well equipped with a fine array of instrumentation.
The second of the RIBs currently in production will be on display at Seawork – the P10 will be competing in the Round Ireland RIB Challenge later this year.
This hull is based on an original ballistic RIB hull, extended, modified and updated to achieve maximum performance and sea keeping capabilities. The concave chives system is a major asset to this craft. With the improvements and hard lessons learnt from commercial operators, this is certainly a craft to undertake the strenuous and rigorous Round Ireland Challenge.
