Quik Sling man overboard recovery system
A recent addition to SeaSafe’s suite of products is the Quik Sling, which will be on show on SeaSafe’s Seawork stand (A215).
The Quik Sling is an all-weather, fast-capture MOB recovery system, which is thrown out from the boat to the casualty like a life buoy. Once the casualty has positioned himself within the hollow of the sling’s frame, draping his arms over the frame for flotation support, a sharp tug on the rope from the rescuer activates the chest sling integrated into the frame. At an opportune moment during the rescue, the casualty plunges the frame under both legs so that it will support the crooks of his knees during the lift.
The Quik Sling enables the casualty to be safely cradled inside two slings as part of the same rescue motion, whilst still being kept well away from the dangerous sides of a rolling ship.
The primed device will transform into two linked lifting slings when the rescue line is pulled against the immersed deadweight resistance of the casualty. This ensures a safe ‘low deckchair’ posture for the hoist aboard. In comparison to the traditional sling rescue, the casualty in a Quik Sling rescue experiences a significantly more comfortable and secure hoist.
