Seacat Services on the wind
The latest 24m catamaran built by South Boats IOW for the Navitus Bay offshore windfarm project on the South Coast, was named Seacat Ranger, at Seawork 2014.
It is the seventh vessel to join the Seacat Services fleet of WFSV’s and it headed straight from Seawork to work at Westermost Rough, on the East Coast.
Mike Unsworth, project director, who named the vessel, commented in his speech that it was important that UK Renewable Energy market project resources stayed in the UK and hoped that local companies would be bidding and competing for the business at Navitus Bay.
The project is already lining up suppliers for a construction start date of early 2017.
It is keen to support apprenticeships in the Marine Renewable Energy supply chain to grow trade skills in this sector and has been working with the Solent and Dorset LEP’s (Local Enterprise Partnerships) as it places supreme importance on the need to support local business and offer benefits back to the local economy.
