Sealite LEDs brighten up Oz
Long-time Seawork exhibitor, Sealite, recently completed an overhaul of Emery Point Lighthouse for Darwin Port Corporation.
The Australia-based navaids supplier replaced traditional light source in the fourth Order drum lens with its LED Light Source, which is says it a “revolutionary LED light source for modernisation of traditional lighthouses”.
Introduced last year, the LED Light Source was originally developed by Trinity House Lighthouse Corporation and is manufactured under license by Sealite. Sealite says it has reduced the power demand from 1000W to just 40W, while the long life of the LEDs has also eliminated the need for a moving lamp changer.
“The Sealite LED light has an impressive clarity and range. It was able to be installed without disruption to the historic structure, maintaining the integrity and antique character of the original glass lens,” said Captain Alistair Logan, marine pilot, Darwin Port Corporation.
Following another successful year at Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork Exhibition, the company’s UK subsidiary will be exhibiting again this year. On display will be a range of its solar LED marine lanterns including its LED Light Source, LED Port Entry Light (SL-PEL), Self-contained Lantern Series, Single LED Lanterns and Long Range Lantern Series.
“Seawork represents a great opportunity for us to meet with our local customers and to expand our network of contacts. We also always look forward to presenting our latest product developments and new product releases,” a spokesperson told Maritime Journal.
