Seawork Asia springboards maritime businesses into East Asia

Since its launch, Seawork Asia has become the must-attend exhibition that successfully brings together all aspects of the commercial marine and workboat sector in Asia.

The pan-Asian region and in particular, China, is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth in the commercial marine sector. China has over 1,600 shipyards along its shoreline, and with 172,000 ships located in China alone, it is unsurprising that in 2013, the Chinese marine engineering market generated USD18billion worth of orders.

Comprising of an exhibition, forum and banquet, Seawork Asia is the fastest growing commercial marine exhibition in Asia. Taking place 29 November – 1 December 2016, the second Seawork Asia will bring thousands of products and services to visitors from mainly the Far East and Oceania region.

Many avenues exist for sales or cooperation between international organisations in these buoyant times. Many European firms are choosing to attend Seawork Asia to explore business opportunities, particularly as the majority of visitors come from the pan-Asian region.

95% of attendees surveyed at the inaugural Seawork Asia exhibition held in 2014 said they intended to return to Seawork Asia 2016. 100% of attendees said they felt it was entirely relevant to their business.

The organisers, Seawork Exhibition (Shanghai) Company, has offices in the UK and Shanghai, plus new sales representation in Taiwan and North America.

Christopher Uniacke of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), being one of Seawork Asia’s supporting partners, comments, “As the fastest growing event of its kind, and sister to Seawork International, Europe’s leading commercial marine and workboat exhibition and conference, Seawork Asia 2016 promises to deliver.”

He continues, “We look forward to working with UK maritime companies in helping them to explore a range of commercial opportunities for their business at the event. UK firms who attended the last exhibition in 2014 identified significant opportunities following meetings at Seawork Asia.”

Paul Graville, MD of Amgram, a specialist naval architects and vessel procurement consultancy, exhibited at the inaugural Seawork Asia and attended the meetings which were set up between Seawork organisers and the UKTI.

“We used Seawork Asia as an introduction to the Far East market and as a great way to launch our new Bangkok office. The organisers gave it the real Seawork feel and although the show was only in its first year we found it served as a valuable introduction point to a number of Chinese builders and operators. We are planning Seawork Asia 2016.”

Held biennially, the last Seawork Asia was host to over 5,000 attendees with thousands of products and services on offer.

Seawork Asia 2016 looks set to break all records, with strong initial exhibitor interest in the first few weeks of the show stand space becoming available.

Seawork Asia will return once more to the globally renowned Shanghai World Exhibition and Conference Center (SWEEC), 29 November to 1 December 2016. For more information regarding Seawork Asia please visit www.seaworkasia.com
