Seawork launch benefits Mermaid Marine
Mermaid Marine’s new hydraulically driven 240v generator concept was launched at Seawork 2013. Since then, the generator – which was entered into the Innovations Showcase – has received strong and steady interest.
The generator is designed to give boat owners a cost-effective alternative to a traditional diesel powered generator, explained sales executive Malcolm Pratt, who praised Seawork as the ideal venue for launching new products.
“Entering the generator in the Innovations Showcase provided a great launch pad for Mermaid Marine, allowing us to show the new technology to a wide audience,” he said. “The generator uses a new modular system which offers complete flexibility for installations with limitless applications possible.”
At the heart of the system is the hydraulically driven alternator with control manifold, which can be powered by an existing hydraulic system or from a complete stand alone system.
Ratings between 2.5kVA and 60kVA are available for all makes and sizes of engines, subject to the mounting of a hydraulic pump, PTO or belt drive, or using a suitable existing hydraulic system. The generator is already being used by the Antarctic Survey Team and is available for both 12v and 24v installations.
Other developments from Mermaid Marine include the launch of the new JCB J-444 diesel engine range, one of the fastest and cleanest diesel engines in the world reaching Stage IIIB – Tier 4 interim – anti pollution standards without any particle filters or after-treatment of exhaust gases.
