Silence is golden at Seawork 2009

Marine exhaust silencing and engine noise reduction solutions provider Halyard Marine Ltd returns as an exhibitor to Seawork International 2009, where the range of their provision as both designer and manufacturer can be seen on Stand 160.

Covering all areas of engine noise reduction, Halyard has the complete in-house design and manufacturing capability to develop effective solutions for engine and exhaust noise, for craft from 10m up to 100m.

Visitors to the show can take full advantage of talking to Halyard’s technical team who have extensive experience of building and designing marine exhaust systems for military craft, pilot boats, support vessels, lifeboats, ferries, fishing boats, and yachts.

The Halyard product range includes GRP exhaust silencers and water separators which are Lloyd’s Register Type Approved and offer noise reductions of up to 80%. Zero fire rated noise insulation materials will also be on show, as will be rubber and silicon exhaust hose, bellows and bends.

The latter group are Lloyd’s Register Type Approved, MDE (Marine Diesel Exhaust) hose, reinforced and capable of withstanding temperatures up to 110°C. MDE is available in standard lengths or custom sizes with ‘cuffed’ ends for specific installations. Alternatively, Halyard design and manufacture silicon couplings and connectors, which offer significantly higher performance, absorbing more of the engine vibration and able to withstand temperatures of up to 250°C.

Halyard’s Aquadrive vibration control coupling is designed to reduce structure borne noise and vibration up to 90% and overall noise levels by up to 75%. It reduces the transmission of noise and vibration to the hull by providing the necessary freedom of movement from the driveshaft, also allowing soft mounts to be used giving a further reduction in vibration/structure borne noise.

Wavestream Bilge Filtration Systems are compliant with the five parts per million regulation of the Boat Safety Scheme. The Wavestream system prevents oily bilge water being pumped into the sea and is available in four sizes to suit any vessel. Exhaust Alert and Sea Strainer alarm monitoring systems will signal if the exhaust gasses reach dangerous levels or if you experience a reduced water flow from your Sea Strainer.

Speaking in anticipation of Seawork, Halyard’s managing director James Grazebrook told MJ, ‘The last few years have seen a major programme by British exhaust manufacturer, Halyard Ltd to grow its special exhaust system project business among commercial craft operators throughout Europe. Halyard’s expansion in 2004 to 2009 doubled the number of staff from 40 to 90 and grew its specialist design and project sales staff from 4 to 8, enabling the company to spread its activities throughout Europe. The success of this is demonstrated by Halyard’s current project workload in the commercial field, where at any one time the company will have up to 25 projects in process between final design and delivery.’
