South Boats brings four to Seawork pontoon

Following on from a highly successful Seawork 2011, where it confirmed orders for more than £28m worth of wind farm support vessels, market leader South Boats will bring four newbuilds to the Seawork 2012 pontoon.

Iceni Defiant is of the same 17m design as MPI Cardenio, which will be on the Seawork 2012 pontoon.

Cemlyn Bay will be the first South Boats 24m WFSV and will be operated by Turbine Transfers Ltd. This extensively tested and modelled vessel will offer new levels of crew comfort, versatility and the latest technology. The vessel will be fitted with Houlder’s Turbine Access System System (TAS), which scooped the coveted Spirit of Innovation Award at Seawork last year. The boat will be able to carry up to two 10ft containers and is to be powered by twin MTU 12V2000M72 1,400hp marine engines driving Rolls-Royce A3-56 water jet units for speeds in excess of 28 knots.

A 19m wind farm support vessel, Seacat Endeavour for Seacat Services Ltd, is built to DNV 1A1 HSLC R2 Wind Farm Service 1 class and UK MCA Category 1flag. It is powered by twin MTU 10V2000M72 1,205 mhp marine diesel engines driving Ultra Dynamics UJ575 water jet units through ZF gears for sprint speeds to 27 knots. The 19m is the first vessel to be designed with the benefit of extensive motion data captured from existing vessels working at various wind farm projects. It is designed to be capable of accepting the Houlder TAS access system and can accommodate three 10ft containers on deck.

The 17m MPI Cardenio for MPI Workboats Ltd is built to UK MCA Workboat Code Category 2. The vessel is powered by twin Scania DI16 43M 800 mhp marine diesel engines driving Ultra Dynamics UJ452 water jet units through Twin disc gearboxes for a sprint speed of 25 knots.

The vessel will be identical to MPI Dorothea and MPI Dulcinea (exhibited at Seawork 2011) and is again of a very high specification designed to meet the demands of the construction, commissioning and O&M phases on offshore wind farm projects.

The 13m Iceni Pride for Iceni Marine Services Ltd is a first of class South Catamaran 14m RRV developed from the very successful 12m RRV, which has been in production for some years. The GRP manufactured vessel is to be powered by twin Caterpillar C9 marine diesel engines rated at 510 mhp and driving Hamilton HJ364 water jet units complete with a Blue Arrow Mouse Boat control system for speeds in excess of 28 knots.
