‘Swiss Army knife’ MPV on show
Norway-based Maritime Partner exhibited its Alusafe 1500 multi-purpose vehicle at this year’s Seawork International.
The Skansen, the Port Authority of Aalesund’s work boat, was custom made for harbour service and inshore operations and is nicknamed a ‘virtual Swiss Army knife’.
The 15m Alusafe 1500 MPV is equipped with twin diesel engines, driving waterjets through marine transmission systems. The hull is a monohull, single chine with deep V-shape designed to ensure smooth operation in adverse conditions.
Maritime Partner area sales manager, Rune Midtkandal, told Maritime Journal that there had been interest in the boat from a UK ferry service company who was particularly impressed by the bow ramp that can be lowered to provide direct access to, for example, beaches.
The pilothouse features two suspensions seats for helmsman and navigator with additional seating in the superstructure for a crew of up to six. Fuel capacity is 800l, freshwater capacity 200l and wastewater capacity 50l in total.
