UAE boatbuilder to debut at Seawork
Topaz Marine Engineering, a United Arab Emirates-based full service ship building, ship repair and engineering services company, will make its debut at Mercator Medias Seawork commercial marine exhibition being held from 25 to 27 June 2013.
Topaz has recently been commissioned by the Kuwait Oil Company to design, build and deliver 10 fast 22m steel crew pilot vessels. The contract value is estimated to be in the region of US$50m.
The new vessels will provide a 24 hour crew transfer service to vessels anchored in Kuwait waters and will be equipped with oil spill recovery capabilities and the latest advanced navigation and communication systems.
They will be built at Topaz’s Nico Craft Shipyard in Abu Dhabi; construction will start in the beginning of 2013 with the 10 units scheduled for delivery in Kuwait in 2014.
Thomas Bower, managing director, Topaz Marine Engineering, commented: “This contract is another achievement for Topaz Group and confirms our leadership as a supplier of fast crew/supply boats in the Middle East and North Africa region. International recognition, experience, quality of work and commitment to on-time delivery are some of the strengths that helped Topaz win this contract after a competitive worldwide tender process.”
Topaz Marine Engineering had an excellent year in 2012. It delivered two catamaran windfarm vessels to the UK and completed two 67m Anchor Handling Supply (AHTS) vessels for deployment in the Caspian Sea and West Africa.
Dario Arcella, Topaz, commented: “We have chosen to exhibit at Seawork 2013 as we believe it is the right platform for us to reach the windfarm market. On our stand, we will be promoting our range of windfarm vessels from 18 to 28 metres, plus many additional workboats in aluminium and steel.”
Topaz Marine Engineering provides shipbuilding, marine repair and underwater support services to the offshore supply vessel and engineering markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Caspian Sea.
