Catering primarily to the renewable energy sector, particularly offshore wind farms, and the oil and gas industry, SeaZip provides crewed vessels under both short-term and long-term charter contracts. With Europe as its main operational theatre and Harlingen as its home port, SeaZip has established a presence in the offshore service market.

Established in 2010, SeaZip Offshore Service is a Dutch company and a proud member of the JR Shipping Group, which boasts a strong maritime heritage. The founders, JR Arends and SD Schakelaar, also helm JR Shipping Group, a leading Dutch shipping company involved in container feeder and multi-purpose shipping markets.

This connection provides SeaZip with a solid foundation and extensive maritime expertise. The operations of SeaZip’s offshore service and support vessels are managed by JR Shipping Group’s ISO 9001:2015 and ISM-certified ship management division, ensuring top-tier management and operational standards.

Meeting market demands

SeaZip was established in response to the burgeoning demand for advanced offshore service vessels, particularly in the offshore wind industry.

As offshore wind farms are being developed further from the coast, there is a growing need for reliable and efficient service vessels. To address this need, SeaZip partnered with Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards, renowned for their innovative catamaran vessels featuring the patented ‘Twin Axe Bow.’ This design enhances vessel stability and safety during crew transfers, even in challenging sea conditions, and ensures operational continuity. The high speed and manoeuvrability of these vessels make them ideal for inspections and emergency responses.

SeaZip’s organizational structure is designed to adapt to the rapidly changing requirements of offshore operations and maintenance activities. The service vessels and their crews are always on standby, ready for both short-term and long-term projects.

Fleet and financial strength

SeaZip owns and operates four Damen-built Fast Crew Supplier 2610 vessels. These vessels, financed through equity and supported by a large group of investors, are immediately deployed in strenuous shuttle services within the offshore wind and oil and gas industries.

SeaZip ensures their fleet meets the highest standards of quality and safety, and is tailored specifically to the unique demands of their clients. The company continues to expand its fleet meticulously, in close consultation with its customers, to effectively address the specific needs and wishes of the offshore industry.

Spotlight on SeaZip 3: A Modern Crew Transfer Vessel

One of SeaZip’s best-known vessels is the CTV SeaZip 3, a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 2610. This modern, high-speed offshore service vessel underwent a transformation in the winter of 2022, increasing its capacity from 12 PAX to 24 PAX. This upgrade reflects SeaZip’s commitment to providing flexible and cost-efficient transport solutions for both smaller maintenance teams and larger groups of technicians.

SeaZip 3 is suited for a variety of offshore services, including:

As a catamaran with two symmetrical hulls, the SeaZip 3 offers enhanced sea-keeping capabilities for optimum comfort and safety.

Each hull is based on the Sea Axe hull shape, and the vessel is propelled by marine diesel engines driving conventional propellers.

The Damen FCS 2610 ‘Twin Axe’ design represents an advance over conventional high-speed offshore service vessels, providing superior characteristics such as greater comfort in turbulent conditions, high-speed preservation in rough seas and excellent fuel efficiency.

The SeaZip 3 is designed for strenuous and long-term deployment on the open sea and operates under the Bureau Veritas class. All SeaZip vessels, including the 24 PAX crew transfer vessels, sail under the Dutch flag.

SeaZip Offshore Service is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, health, environment and safety. The company is certified according to ISO 9001:2015 QHSE standards and adheres to the International Safety Management (ISM) code, ensuring the safe operation of vessels and the prevention of water pollution. All SeaZip vessels are also MLC2006 certified.
