Cardiff Brothers Workboats Refit and Ready
The Powell Brothers of Cardiff have just completed refits of their two workboats and are looking to expand their two year old commercial boat charter firm, Sea Pages Marine. The brothers make an impressive partnership, with James having completed a two year BTEC in Boatbuilding and Design at Falmouth Boatbuilding College followed by a Maritime Studies BSc from the Southampton Institute, while Tom was earning a Business Studies degree at Brighton.
Sea Pages Marine currently operate a 6m Ribtech RIB powered by a 90hp Honda outboard and a 7m GRP-built Fastworker 24 powered by a 165hp Volvo TD outdrive.
The latter boat has recently completed a nine month contract with the Cardiff Harbour Authority who used it primarily for water quality sampling behind the Cardiff Bay Barrage.
Following this contract, the boat received a comprehensive refit which included the addition of a man overboard recovery arm, a new Simrad DCS/VHF as well Garmin GPS electronic chart and a Garmin fishfinder for depth monitoring.
The newly refitted and road transportable vessels are now available for inshore safety work around marine construction sites, diving support, hydrographic survey and other tasks.
