Dredging support workboat
Netherlands boatbuilder OrangePit has delivered one of its StrongMultiworker 9.5 vessels built under BV classification (sheltered waters), for a European dredging firm.
This single engine workboat is a heavily built, small but complete vessel designed for assisting dredgers with anchor handling, towing, pushing, bunkering and all other marine works around dredging and construction.
The main construction is of classified Grade A steel, the demountable wheelhouse top part is constructed of seawater resistant aluminium. Length overall is 9.5m, breadth overall is 3.95m, hull depth is 1.51. Draft is 0.75 m and dry weight is around 20 tons. The hull compromises four compartments with engine room and store room having deck hatches and aft compartment having a Freeman hatch.
This StrongMultiworker is propelled by an FTP-Iveco N67-280 6-cylinder diesel engine with 230hp @ 2.800 rpm and a PRM 100 gearbox with hydraulic clutch PTO to a fixed drive shaft propeller in a Damen nozzle. Standard fuel capacity is 2000 litres.
On deck there is a Guerra 40 Kn/m knuckle boom crane, two Barciet 10 ton hand winches for barge coupling, a 4 ton hydraulic winch all incorporated around a relatively large wooden work deck. For towing duties, a towing bit is included, for pushing duties two push bars are mounted at the bow.
Two standard options are listed for the choice of machinery. Option A utilises a FTP-Iveco N67-280 6-cylinder diesel engine with 150hp, option B offers the same engine with 200hp. Other engine and gearbox configurations are possible. The builders add that any required client customisation is possible as OrangePit has an in-house ship design and engineering department.
