The innovative team at Ferguson Marine Engineering have proven they have the skills and experience necessary to undertake building this world-first prototype barge.”

Gerry Marshall, FMEL CEO, added: “This exciting project win is further evidence our current diversification strategy is already beginning to have a hugely positive impact on the business. Undoubtedly, these types of contracts are essential in helping secure the long-term future of the yard.”

Work on the barge officially commenced on 26 October with an estimated project completion scheduled in 2019.
