Fugro wraps up key survey for US offshore wind projects

Covering 1,000 km² across three lease areas, Fugro’s innovative data collection approach boosted survey efficiency by 30%, contributing to the federal approval of Atlantic Shores South, which will deliver 2,800 MW of clean energy to New Jersey.

Streamlining assessments

During its survey operations, Fugro streamlined offshore wind site assessments by consolidating oceanographic, seabed, soil and habitat data collection into a single, integrated programme.

To handle the extensive data, over 100 TB, Fugro and Atlantic Shores developed Fugro VirGeo, a cloud-based Geo-data platform offering real-time project information for faster decision-making.

Throughout the four-year programme, Fugro adhered to Atlantic Shores’ stringent “Goal Zero” safety standard, ensuring the safety of people and the environment.

This achievement was supported by local survey companies Alpine and S.T. Hudson Engineers, working relationships which contributed to job creation in New Jersey.
