Nordic USV and HydroSurv extend partnership

The new 60-month lease agreement for HydroSurv’s newly launched REAV-47 platform follows the success of Nordic USV’s first year with the REAV-28 ‘USV Nordy’. Over 100 oceanographic monitoring missions have been completed from the vessel’s home port in Bergen.

“The REAV-47 represents a quantum leap in remote vessel capability,” said Sander Henriksen, chief executive of Nordic USV.

“From our Bergen Operations Centre, the REAV-47 will conduct missions up to 1,000 kilometres away, gathering crucial environmental data even in adverse conditions.”

The REAV-47, named ‘USV Bris’, has a hybrid powertrain which combines a 12kW Mastervolt battery with a 4kW Fischer Panda generator, giving up to 72 hours of coastal endurance. It also features Rim Drive Technologies’ 5kW electric outboards, Furuno hardware and TimeZero marine navigation software.

Primarily deployed for CTD profiling operations in Norway’s fjords, ‘USV Bris’ is expected to achieve record depths of up to 1,500 metres, a milestone in autonomous vessel capabilities.

With a packed mission schedule through 2025, the REAV-47 will support Nordic USV’s growing data-as-a-service model for environmental monitoring.
