4th Acta Marine CSOV heading for France

According to market intelligence firm 4C Offshore, France currently has 46 offshore wind projects on the go, just two of which are actually operating. 

Regulatory and legal obstacles have plagued the sector, however the French government now has a target of installing 45GW by 2050 and 18GW by 2030.

The walk-to-work vessel, Acta Pegasus, is an Ulstein SX216 design and will be built with the capability of using methanol as a main fuel. It is a sign of confidence that the sector will grow.

“Given our growing position and operations in the French market, we will invest in recruiting and training a team of highly skilled French maritime professionals to operate this state-of-the-art vessel,” says the company. “By employing local talent, we aim to support the French workforce, foster local expertise, and ensure the highest standards of safety, hospitality, and efficiency in our operations.”

Acta Marine, which is based in the Netherlands, has a 40-strong fleet of vessels, including DP Multicats, tugs, Crew Transfer Vessels, Multi-purpose and Survey Vessels and barges.

It supports works in the port and harbour construction, marine civil engineering, dredging and oil and gas sectors as well as offshore wind.

Last year, Acta Marine sold all of its workboat activities – excluding in the offshore wind sector – to Jifmar Offshore Services, with Jifmar saying it would become the world’s largest independent operator of workboats.
