Artemis inks electric pilot boat first to Sweden
Artemis Technologies has secured a major contract with the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) to build and supply a 100% electric pilot boat to play a key role in Sweden’s shift towards fossil-free maritime operations.
The new pilot boat, powered by Artemis Technologies’ advanced eFoiler system, will be the first of its kind to operate in Nordic waters.

“The Artemis EF-12 Pilot boat will set a new standard in emission-free operation while delivering the reliability needed for vital pilotage services.”
Hydrofoil technology
Designed for high-performance, the vessel will support the SMA’s mission to provide efficient and sustainable pilotage services, helping Sweden achieve its ambitious goal of net-zero emissions by 2045.
Utilising hydrofoil technology, the pilot boat will lift above the water to reduce drag, enabling greater energy efficiency and quieter operation.
This design also minimises wake, protecting marine ecosystems and reducing the environmental impact on shorelines and other vessels.
This electric pilot boat represents a key advancement in vessel building, reinforcing Sweden’s efforts to decarbonise its maritime sector.
