Evoy joins Vita Power to push electric propulsion

Claiming the partnership will become Europe’s leader in high-power electric marine propulsion, the companies intend to accelerate the adoption of electric boats in both commercial and recreational markets by ‘leveraging scale to drive down prices for the end user’, fast tracking development and providing immediate access to Europe and North America.

Norway-based Evoy makes electric inboards and outboards for a range of commercial and leisure boats, and complements Vita Power, which integrates its propulsion systems into commercial RIBs and superyachts.

The two firms say they are ’building on the shared belief that high-output systems with DC-charging capability present the most robust solutions for the widest range of marine applications’.

The firms say they are seeing a new era of growth in the electric marine market, with Vita Power notching up several contracts, including an electric dayboat launched by top-end car manufacturer Maserati.
