KM wins Indonesian Navy equipment deal
Kongsberg Maritime has won a deal to provide propulsion and manoeuvring technology for two KCR-70 Fast Attack Craft for the Indonesian Navy.
The vessels, currently under construction at Sefine Shipyard in Turkey, are designed for various military operations, including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-surface and anti-air warfare.
The Kongsberg Maritime system includes a propulsion configuration featuring twin controllable pitch propeller Promas systems for high efficiency at patrol speeds, combined with a single Kamewa waterjet for boost power during high-speed operations.
The vessels will be powered by a combined diesel and gas turbine propulsion system, consisting of twin diesel engines and a 23-megawatt gas turbine that drives the 160-centimetre diameter waterjet, capable of displacing over 30 cubic metres of water per second.
This combination allows the KCR-70 to exceed speeds of 40 knots when using the waterjet for extra thrust.
The KCR-70 is a 70-metre, 850-tonne craft with a range of 1,600 nautical miles and a seven-day endurance, making it well-suited for extended operations in diverse and challenging environments.
