Orders soaring for Salt Ship Design

Salt Ship Design has bolstered its order book with two orders and options for state-of-the-art multipurpose platform supply vessels (MPSV) and one for construction commissioning service operation vessels (C-CSOV).

The Norwegian ship builder is supply four MPSVs from Pax Ocean’s shipyard in shipyard in Zhoushan, China with an option for a further six also on the table.

Two options for MPSVs from another undisclosed client have also been declared bringing this client’s order to six in total.

With an LOA of 92.9m, the MPSVs can accommodate 60 crew and are designed to carry a 100-tonne active heave compensation crane or gangway system.

Salt Ship Design will deliver the comprehensive design package, including detail, for the vessels.

Construction commissioning service operation vessels

The company is also supplying four C-CSOVs for a new joint venture entering the offshore energy market.

The collaboration between Schoeller Holdings and newly launched Deutsche Offshore Schiffahrt has ordered the vessels from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for delivery beginning in early 2027.

The C-CSOV is a groundbreaking offshore vessel, designed for diverse applications beyond offshore wind turbine tasks.

It features a large, modular working deck with over 850 square metres of multipurpose space, a 50-tonne AHC crane, and a fully integrated gangway system.

Supporting cable repairs, IMR, construction and ROV operations, the C-CSOV’s energy-efficient design includes a 1,000 kWh battery pack, shore power connection and reduced fuel consumption and emissions..

Future-ready, it can operate with methanol as an alternative fuel and be fully electrified, making it a sustainable, climate-neutral option for offshore industries.
