Ribcraft expands its electric RIB portfolio

The new model expands Ribcraft’s electric RHIB portfolio for defence, commercial and government users, combining its Deep-V Hull with zero-emission vessel power to deliver quieter, lower-cost and mission-ready performance.

Designed and built in the UK, the electric RIB is positioned as part of Ribcraft’s global growth strategy and long-term clean propulsion roadmap.

The PRO 480 platform has a long track record in defence, SAR and high-demand commercial missions, with a reputation for resilience, configurability and endurance.

Its electric configuration preserves that operational flexibility while opening new use cases in low-noise, low-emission environments, including harbour security, wildlife monitoring and sensitive coastal patrols.

Preliminary trials of the electric RIB, equipped with a RAD 21 kWh battery, showed operational speeds from 4–30 knots, with optimal efficiency at 12–16 knots and low energy consumption at patrol speeds. High-speed response capability was also validated, supporting rapid SAR and interdiction missions.

According to Ribcraft, the combination of reduced acoustic signature, zero emissions and lower through-life costs positions the PRO 480 Electric as a next-generation solution for operators seeking sustainable vessel power without compromising performance.
