Sanmar delivers high-tech tugboat

The newly delivered tug, named BOSS, is based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design, developed in collaboration with Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.

Originally constructed as Boğaçay LXV, the vessel has been renamed by its new owners and will operate in the challenging port of Stavanger, Norway – a key hub in the energy and offshore sectors.

“The delivery of BOSS to Buksér og Berging represents the next step in this journey – a vessel meticulously engineered to meet the highest standards of technology, performance and environmental stewardship.”

Measuring 24.4 metres in length with a 75-tonne bollard pull and a top speed of 12 knots, BOSS is designed for year-round operation with advanced manoeuvrability, safety and comfort for up to six crew members.

A standout feature is the integrated bridge system developed in collaboration with Buksér og Berging and Marine Technologies. Unifying navigation, communication and control systems, this is Sanmar’s first such installation in the tugboat sector.

Compliant with IMO Tier III emissions standards, BOSS also features a 180-degree rotating operator chair, high-performance winches, tow pins and a deck crane.
