Schottel opens UK base to capture growth markets
Schottel has launched a new UK subsidiary to drive vessel propulsion innovation and accelerate hybrid power adoption across the offshore market, among others.
The opening of Schottel UK by the German propulsion specialist is a move to strengthen its presence in the United Kingdom and Ireland to meet rising demand for vessel electrification and sustainable retrofit solutions.
“The UK market is offering significant growth potential, particularly in the segments of offshore vessels, dredgers, ferries, tugs and naval vessels,” said Roland Schwandt, deputy CEO of Schottel.
“As the industry increasingly seeks innovative technologies to support the transition to climate-neutral shipping, demand is rising for hybrid and electric propulsion systems.”
Better connected
The new subsidiary will focus on newbuild and retrofit sales, offering closer customer support for designers, builders and vessel owners.
Newly appointed managing director pf Schottel UK, Sebastian Sachs, described the launch as “a strategic step aimed at increasing proximity to our customers, strengthening consulting and support in both newbuild and retrofit projects and unlocking further potential in this dynamic market.”
He will lead Schottel UK alongside his existing role at Schottel Nederland, supported by sales manager Jordan Soltys, who remains the primary point of contact for local customers.
While Schottel UK will focus on the product offering for new contracts, aftersales service will continue through long-standing partner Stone Marine Services based near Edinburgh.
