VARD delivers second CSOV to Windward Offshore

Windward Paris is the second CSOV delivered by VARD to Windward Offshore: the first in the series, Windward Athens, was delivered in September 2025 and is operating under an operations and maintenance contract.

Windward Paris is scheduled to enter service supporting the construction phase of a new offshore wind farm in the German Bight.

The two vessels are the first two of a four-vessel contract between Windward Offshore and VARD. They are also the first projects for Windward Offshore in the CSOV and SOV market. 

Windward Paris is intended for offshore wind farm support operations, covering both construction and commissioning activities, and is prepared for potential operation on green methanol. Based on the VARD 4 19 design, she has battery-hybrid propulsion.

The vessel has an overall length of 87.5 metres and a beam of 19.5 metres. She is equipped with a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway fitted with an elevator system and a height-adjustable boat landing system to support safe personnel transfer in varying sea states.

Cargo handling and lifting capability is provided by a Seaonics electric controlled motion compensated crane, rated at 5 tonnes at 25 metres. The crane uses a fully electric motion-compensation system intended to support precise lifting operations during offshore wind activities.

For vessel systems integration and operational efficiency, Windward Paris is fitted with a SeaQ package supplied by Vard Electro, covering power management, control systems, bridge solutions and communications for more efficient energy use and reduced fuel consumption.

Vard Interiors has supplied HVAC-R systems, piping and interior outfitting. Accommodation is provided for up to 120 persons, reflecting the vessel’s role in supporting large offshore wind construction and commissioning teams.
