Order success for Vallianz

The contract for a 3,200bhp tug has been secured by Singapore-based Vallianz Holdings Ltd for TIPC Marine Corporation Ltd. (TIPM). The client is a subsidiary company of Taiwan International Ports Corporation, a state-owned company that administers and manages ports in Taiwan and operates a fleet of vessels including tugs, crew transfer vessels and deck barges.

Vallianz will build the new tug at its wholly-owned subsidiary shipyard PT United Sindo Perkasa (PT USP) at Batam, Indonesia. The vessel will be based on a design by Khiam Chuan Marine Pte Ltd, a consultancy well-known for its portfolio of tug designs in Taiwan’s tug market. The 35m long ASD tug is due for delivery in Q2 2022 and will provide 40tbp and be capable of firefighting operations. Once in service the vessel will provide shiphandling operations at Kaohsiung Port.

Ling Yong Wah, Vallianz chief executive officer said: ‘This contract with TIPM marks a new and promising partnership for Vallianz, further increasing the group’s international reach. It also builds on PT USP’s growing track record for construction of harbour tugs following our recent awards for three units of Voith-Schneider Propeller tugs and one unit of azimuth stern drive tug in 2020. Additionally, PT USP is one of the few yards in this region with the track record of constructing tugs with Voith-Schneider propellers. This expands not only PT USP’s customer reach but also the value proportion it has to offer.’

A snapshot view of PT USP’s list of vessels in-build indicates ten vessels under construction, all commercial workboat-related including tugs, AHTS vessels, mooring craft, OSV and a non-propelled crane barge. The company’s references include vessels for European-based owners including the recently delivered SD Honour (launched as Golden Honour) for Kotug International. This high-spec 50m long, 16m beam anchor-handling tug boasts DP 2 and fifi 2 (7,200 m3/hr) capabilities and a bollard pull of 120 tonnes.

Vallianz describes itself as having a ‘progressive mindset’ seizing opportunities in the evolving energy industry and includes associated companies in the Middle East and Indonesia operating a fleet of 74 offshore support vessels. It also operates in markets in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Gulf of Mexico.
