Albwardy Damen shipyard in Sharjah UAE has won a Superbrands 2018 award recognising its shipbuilding success, of course including the construction of tugs.
In commerce and industry, the way a company presents itself, known as branding is all-important in attracting the attention of the audience and communicating and promoting its products. Albwardy Damen along with Hamriyah Free Zone in which it operates have now won branding awards marking their efforts.
Superbrands Worldwide is the world’s largest independent arbiter of branding and pays tribute to the strongest and most valuable brands worldwide through its publications and national marketing programmes. The winners of these awards were selected by the International Arbitration Board, made up of over 4,000 marketing experts from the UAE business community.
This year is the second in a row Hamriyah Free Zone has won the Superbrands UAE Award and based on its recommendations a number of companies within the zone gained Superbrands awards. Albwardy Damen was presented with its Superbrands Status and Certificate at a grand event held earlier this year at Hamriyah Free Zone.
Damen is of course a global brand in its own right and its joint venture with Albwardy Marine producing high-quality vessels features regularly in this column. Also mentioned elsewhere, one of its most notable deliveries of late is the ART 100-46 Rotortug RT Raven. It lays claim to the title of world’s biggest Rotortug but is more than just a further example of the breed. Referred to as an Infield Service Vessel it is a customised tug of 46m length boasting DP2 capability and a bollard pull of 100t.
The shipyard itself has a covered building hall, a 5,200t ship lift and eight dry berths, each 125m in length. In 2017 it opened new office and workshop facilities in Dubai Maritime City.
Lard Seistrup, Managing Director of Albwardy Damen said: “We are very honoured to have received this award. Hamriyah Free Zone is recognized across the region as a premier location from which to do business, and it has been a significant factor in our success. We are very grateful to Saud Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, and his team for their support and friendship.”
