Marine services distributor, Proteum, has been appointed as UK & Ireland distributor for French marine engine manufacturer, Moteurs Baudouin.
The Cassis-based manufacturer is now part of Weichai Power Company offering products including 6 cylinder, V8 and V12 engines with power settings ranging from 136kW to 1214kW.
Jeremy Paul, general manager of Proteum, said: “The Moteurs Baudouin distributorship is a blue chip addition to our growing portfolio of marine propulsion products in the commercial marine sector where we provide a one-stop-shop in both the inboard and outboard propulsion markets.”
In other news for the South coast-based firm, Proteum will be showcasing the new OXE Diesel demo boat, a twin-powered Cheetah Marine 10m catamaran, at Seawork International this June.
The 200HP OXE is the first commercially available high horsepower diesel outboard engine and is said to offer the range and performance required by the military and commercial sector to operate in extreme environments.
Potential applications are seen wide-ranging and include coastal fishing, aquaculture, ferry operations, survey work, emergency services and security related operations.
The distributor and the Isle of Wight-based catamaran specialist have been in collaboration since February and the first production units for customer delivery are expected in August.
