Queen’s Award winner makes Easytraks to Seawork
UK based underwater acoustic specialists Applied Acoustics Engineering Ltd will be demonstrating their brand new USBL tracking system, Easytrak Alpha, on Stand 164 at Seawork 2010.
The Alpha is the most compact yet of the Easytrak range of subsea tracking systems and has been adapted from units used to serve the large survey vessel market in order to serve smaller vessel operations. Its basic diver tracking is best suited to monitoring close range subsea targets.
The Alpha system is centred on a desktop command console connected to the submerged transducer and to the host PC via a USB port. With its own internal GPS receiver, Alpha calculates the target’s position as well as its range and bearing. With the ability to offer hemispherical tracking, the system is ideal for shallow water applications from small workboats in coastal waters, estuaries and lakes.
Alpha, like the other Easytrak systems in the range, offers flexibility in operation, including a rack mounted, spread spectrum model and a fully portable version. All of the systems are supported by a wide range of transponders for positioning and release. The company has already received an order for the Alpha Easytrak system from the USA.
Applied Acoustic Engineering won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category back in April. The Award is recognition of its outstanding achievement in boosting export revenues by over 300% during six years of continuous growth, and selling more than 70% of its products overseas.

The company designs and manufactures underwater acoustic positioning, tracking and survey equipment sold mainly to the commercial offshore energy market but increasingly sales have been secured with oceanographic research institutions and naval defence industries.
