MPI Discovery, Vroon’s wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), has completed foundation installation work at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, England.
The last foundation was installed successfully on 8 November in close cooperation with Swire Blue Ocean’s Pacific Orca.
Rampion Offshore Wind Farm is being built by E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank plc and Canadian energy company Enbridge. It will consist of 116 foundations and turbines and is due for completion in 2018.
Previous installation activities were halted in April due to the black-bream-spawning season and restarted at the beginning of July.
During two phases of the operation the WTIV installed a total of 69 monopiles and transition pieces while the other 47 foundations were installed by Swire Blue Ocean’s Pacific Orca.
MPI Discovery will now be re-mobilised, prior to recommencing work at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, this time installing wind turbines, with work expected to commence in spring 2017.
