Rosboroughs Challenger excels at Seawork
This year saw Canadian boat builder Rosborough Boats exhibiting at Seawork for the first time.

which is owned and operated by their first UK customer Calypso Marine, who are based in the Firth of Forth where the vessel is currently working.
Heaton Rosborough of Rosborough Boats says, ‘As a new supplier to the European market, we chose Seawork to debut our Rough Water line, as the show has a reputation for quality attendees and a high calibre of exhibitors. The RIBwork Trail brings an aspect overlooked by most work boat shows but crucial to the professional marine community, small boats. This was Rosborough Boats’ first year exhibiting at Seawork and we will be exhibiting the Rough Water line again in 2010.’
Calypso Marine’s Challenger will be joined by a second Rosborough boat later this autumn. This new Rough Water 7.90 will outfitted with twin 150HP outboards, full navigation and communication equipment and the Rough Water standard wheelhouse complete with seating for four people with shock mitigating seating for the pilot and navigator. The wheelhouse is centrally posited offering open deck work spaces both front and back.
For over 54 years Rosborough Boats has been building semi-custom vessels to suit the specific needs of its professional operators and have yet to find two requirements that are exactly the same.
In 2000, Rosborough had a request from the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans, who own over 50 of their RF-246 Work Boats, to develop a RIB that would have greater sea keeping abilities and larger personnel carrying capacity and higher speeds in harsh conditions. Rosborough Boats started to develop their rigid hull inflatable line up through various prototypes and released the Rough Water 9.11 in 2003.
Rough Water RIBs are presently in service with several Canadian and American federal, state/provincial and municipal agencies as well as those in the private sector serving the needs of policing/ patrolling, search & rescue, conservation & protection, water borne ambulance, oil platform assistance, survival training and general work boats.
Rosborough Boats rigid hull inflatable line up includes the 8.50, 7.90 and 6.70 and the Rough Water line up also includes the RFV HammerHead (Hard-Shell) available in 6.7 and 7.6 metres.
