Power blackout knocks out anchor capability on survey vessel
Catastrophic engine failure on a survey vessel left it drifting helplessly after a complete electrical blackout rendered its anchors unusable, a UK marine accident investigation has found.
The total power-out happened in the Scottish Firth of Forth on the site investigation vessel Kommandor Susan, owned by Gardline Shipping at the time of the incident in January 2025 but by Hays Shipping when she was given a major overhaul in 2019.
