Siemens boosts supply chain

Siemens’ decision to go ahead with the construction of an offshore wind manufacturing plant in Hull, UK, will provide a significant boost to the region’s offshore and marine engineering supply chain, says Team Humber Marine Alliance director, Mark O’Reilly.

Siemens’ decision will boost the regional economy

“Siemens is among the biggest and the best in the offshore wind sector and this positive decision cements the Humber region as a vital UK and European centre for offshore wind,” said Mr O’Reilly, who heads up the 180-strong group of Humber companies, nine of which will be exhibiting on the THMA stand at Seawork (B83), including Rix Shipping, RES Offshore, North Sea Winches, Andrew Jackson, Humber Electrical and Fairburns Group.

Team Humber Marine Alliance (THMA) is a well-established maritime and renewable engineering business development membership organisation at the cutting edge of industrial developments.

Led by a proactive, informed and experienced team of directors THMA is a strong, collaborative Alliance of companies based predominantly in the Humber region, but operating nationally and internationally.

There is an enormous breadth of engineering and professional experience among member companies, combined with in-depth knowledge and expert capabilities covering several key sectors, including renewable energy, commercial shipping and maritime engineering, and offshore oil and gas.

Members work both independently and collaboratively, giving clients a single access point to a vast array of skills and resources and the ability to create bespoke supply networks.

Collaborating along the supply chain allows clients to work with multiple suppliers under one collective contract, reducing time and management costs associated with larger, unwieldy supply chains.

The Alliance provides member companies with skilled, expert advice and assistance and, being based in Hull, THMA is close to the existing Humber ports of Grimsby, Goole, and Immingham, and new port developments including Green Port Hull and Able.

The organisation is at the heart of the fourth largest port complex in northern Europe and the busiest in the UK, handling over 40,000 shipping movements and in excess of 92 million tonnes every year.
