Norwegian seabed seismic services company Magseis has selected acoustic positioning equipment from Sonardyne International in the UK to support current deep water ocean bottom seismic surveys of the Red Sea in partnership with BGP on behalf of Saudi Aramco.

Expected to last nine months, the project involves deployment of a large network of ocean bottom recording nodes, all of which are accurately positioned with Sonardyne’s Ranger 2 USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) and Small Seismic Transponder (SST) technologies to obtain the highest possible definition imagery.
