Twelve students and graduates from Plymouth University have begun a year-long work place assignment at the UK Hydrographic Office’s headquarters in Taunton, Somerset.
Part of twenty annual placements on offer from the government-owned agency under an internship programme which originally attracted hundreds of applicants, they are currently working as software developers, business analysts, technical developers and product support technicians.
The new recruits come from a variety of courses at Plymouth ranging from geography, computer science and history to environmental studies, navigation and maritime science. They have already been hugely beneficial to our team, says Kellie James, People Development Manager for the UKHO’s Technology Division.
