Suzuki will be showcasing its commercial range of ultimate four stroke outboard motors at this year’s Seawork International exhibition.
The company has recently launched its new DF325A outboard which has been designed to run on 91 RON fuel, apparently the first four stroke outboard over 300 horsepower in the world to achieve this.
“The latest high-spec, high-output outboards all require high-octane fuel. As far as we know, there is no other outboard over 300 horsepower that runs on RON 91, which is regular fuel in some key markets,” said Yasuharu Osawa, executive general manager, Global Marine & Power Products Operation, Suzuki Motor Corporation.
Well suited
Because the DF325A has been designed to be robust, easy to use and versatile, it is an ideal outboard for larger boats which are being used every day, so it’s an attractive outboard for the commercial sector.
The traditional single propeller design not only creates forward thrust, but also produces a significant amount of rotational energy.
Its innovative contra-rotating propeller design provides more grip underwater and also helps to achieve a smaller and far more hydrodynamic gear case by distributing the engine’s torque evenly over two propellers.
A new three-blade/three-blade propeller set up has been developed to provide incredible acceleration and high performance. In testing, this configuration recorded high speeds even under heavy load and at high rotation speeds.
One of the most remarkable benefits is exceptional directional and transverse stability which is achieved by each propeller rotating in different directions, to balance the turning.
