AD Ports subsidiary launches unmanned ROV
Safeen Subsea, a joint venture between the AD Ports Group and NMDC Group, has launched a remotely operated unmanned vessel that it says will ‘revolutionise marine surveys and inspections’.
Safeen Green can operate up to 200nm offshore, and what sets it apart, says Safeen Subsea, is its ability to deliver geophysical data ‘to commercial standards’, with operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The vessel runs on biofuel or electric power, says Safeen, emitting 10% of the emissions of a conventional vessel.
“Its unmanned operation enhances safety by eliminating risks to personnel, while dual autopilots, redundant HD cameras, and comprehensive monitoring systems ensure secure and efficient operations,” says Safeen Subsea. “Additionally, its modular payload options and superior fuel economy provide cost-efficiency without compromising performance.”
Safeen Green was tested in the North Sea, and the company says it has enough operational flexibility to be deployed in the wind farm oil and gas and deep-sea mining sectors.
In May, Safeen Group began trialling an electric tug within its Marine Services Fleet, which it claims is the only one of its kind in the Middle East.
That vessel will be deployed at AD Ports’ flagship facility, Khalifa Port, where onshore charging is being planned.
