PaxOcean has signed contracts to build two state-of-the-art Offshore Construction Vessels (OCVs) for an undisclosed European shipowner, with delivery expected in 2027.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, these vessels will support the conventional and renewable offshore energy industries and an option for two additional vessels has also been secured.
“These advanced vessels represent a significant step forward in sustainable offshore operations,” said a PaxOcean spokesperson.
“With features like methanol readiness and battery energy storage, they are built to meet the evolving demands of the offshore energy industry.”
Cutting-edge tech
The vessels will feature cutting-edge technology, including a 250-tonne active heave-compensated offshore crane, DP2 dynamic positioning and accommodations for up to 123 personnel.
Each vessel will measure 123 metres in length and offer a 1,750 square metre cargo deck, ensuring versatility across a range of offshore construction tasks.
Key highlights include a full-beam hangar for two work-class ROVs, a 1000KWh battery energy storage system and provisions for future carousel installation and moonpool operations. These design elements enable the vessels to excel in subsea construction, ROV support and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) activities.
PaxOcean emphasises that these OCVs will play a vital role in supporting offshore renewables going forward, particularly within the growing offshore wind sector, while maintaining flexibility for traditional offshore energy projects.
